SALTED CARAMEL POPCORN:

InShot_20200515_223841675All I’ve been doing in between cooking, cleaning and DIY’s during this quarantine is binge watching and stumbling upon new shows. I like snacking and eating when I’m watching my favorite shows and I have figured I’d create my own “lockdown snacking” series where I create snacks to munch on while at home using readily available ingredients at home. To start the lockdown snacking series is this salted caramel popcorn:

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook time: 20 minutes

Serves: 4 people

Ingredients:

– 1 cup popcorn kernels

– 1/2 cup sugar

– 1 teaspoon salt

-2 tablespoon butter/ margarine

– vegetable oil

Procedure:

1. In a shallow pan, heat up a tablespoon of vegetable oil on medium low heat. Next add your popcorn kernels and cover to cook on low heat with occasional shaking of the pot to ensure all the kernels are cooked.

You’ll know the popcorn is done cooking once the popping of the kernels stop.

2. In a separate pan, add your sugar in and allow the sugar to melt on medium low heat. DO NOT STIR THE SUGAR. Stirring the sugar will lead to crystalization and interrupt the melting process.IMG_20200515_152934_758-01

3. Once the sugar has completely melted, turn of the heat and immediately add in your butter this will lead to a bit of bubbling. Quickly give it a good stir until the bubbling stops. Add in your salt and whisk.IMG_20200517_181111_178

4. Pour your caramel sauce onto your popcorn (as soon as possible) and give it a quick mix to coat your popcorns.IMG_20200515_162254_028-02

5. Place your coated popcorn on a tray to allow the caramel to evenly set.IMG_20200515_162402_128-026. Serve up and enjoy! InShot_20200515_223841675LOVE, C&C.
